Design and the Domestication of ICTs: Technical Change and Everyday Life.

I found that they discussed the idea and influence of everyday things and its effect within design. Though there is the increasing evidence in the technological innovation in engineering in both new and old technologies of aesthetics in material functions.

Explaining the process of analyzing the particular characteristics of the use and focusing on the interrelationship of design and domestication and what role they play.

Exploring the idea of the design within a standpoint or the political and cultural state of society and the effect it has on the consumer. Influences in advertisement that play on the fact of the essential parts for different objects within their design and how the effect the majority of the consumer. Thus they discussing many ideas within the topic of everyday design showing the many spectrums that it holds; giving a detailed standpoint to its idea.

Return to the tradition: DIY Design.

This Article explains the understanding that DIY design is the role of handmade design compared to the more convenient mass manufactured products that lines the shelves.

It analyzes the characteristics of DIY and the individualities that it holds for the maker such, personality, uniqueness and manual traces.

It continues on to discuss the idea of the disappearance of Handmade craft within society, and the ever rising popularity of DIY design. It tries to work out the possibility of combining both Handmade craft and DIY i.e. simplification, modernization, education and industrialism. By trying to capitalize on this and rake in the riches of this profit by the combination of both for a broader space for its change.

Critical Design: Agroindustral Project Analysis.

This book looks into the critical design within the development of countries and how they are affected by the agroindustral projects in the more industrialized environments.

It begins to expand on the components of agroindustral activity through the method of explaining of the raw materials, processing and marketing.

It begins to expand later on within chapter 3 about Critical design ideas with the operating characteristics of food processing tech. Looking over the various necessities that are required within this field and their effects on the surrounding area.

This book sums up many ideas of critical thinking within design and how to associate them with key ideas and what is required within the field.

Privacy in Video Surveilance:

This article explains what privacy we really do have both through the internet and that of video footage. As stated that giving up privacy for the sake of easy searching and greater security as it does not “ require a loss of privacy” to do so. Even though there are many technologies that are created in this ploy to protect us.

It explains that practically everything we use in our daily lives have some relation to keeping tabs on us. As the age of technology continues so too does the surveillance kept on and ever increasing. There are some things that were unaware of such as “As an alternative to transmitting video, smart cameras can produce two separate data streams: a metadata stream describing, for instance, trajectories of people or vehicles (behavioral data) and a stream of images capturing the identity.”
